Once a campaign is running, it must be managed. Campaign management is simple within the platform's user interface. Management tools are straightforward and campaigns do not typically require regular intervention beyond optimizations and creative edits.
Campaigns can be searched by name, filtered by attribute, and sorted by attribute. Click a campaign on the Campaigns page to get a detailed view of the campaign and to edit the campaign. Edit aspects of a campaign after it's running to improve its effectiveness.
Find a campaign
- Log in to the applicable account.
- Click the Campaigns tab, then use the Search Campaigns tools to locate a campaign.
- When you find what you need, just click the campaign in the Campaign List to see its details.
You can also sort Campaign List columns by clicking the column headings.
Stop and start a campaign
Important: We DO NOT recommend stopping a campaign so you can edit it. Each restart forces a campaign review, so stopping and starting a campaign causes delays in ad serving.
Stopping and restarting a campaign in the Sales Solution user interface is very easy. However, there are consequences for doing so.
Some notable consequences follow:
- Turning off a running campaign results in a near-immediate pause in the campaign's ad serving. However, some serving might still occur for a brief period after you've paused a campaign.
- When you turn on a campaign after a pause, it must be reviewed again; this results in a brief delay (usually a day or two) before ads begin to serve.
- When you restart a campaign after a pause, the campaign typically attempts to serve ads at a pace that meets your budget settings. This means that you might see a brief surge in ads served while your campaign catches up.
- Stopping a campaign deactivates landing page and proxy domains. In an active campaign, iPromote automatically renews the domain. However, if an account is deactivated and a domain expires, iPromote does not automatically renew the domain. If the campaign is turned on again, iPromote attempts to re-purchase the expired domain or buy a similar domain.
Follow these steps to pause or restart a campaign:
- Log in to the applicable account.
- Click the Campaigns tab.
- Search for and select the applicable campaign in the Campaigns List area.
- In the upper-right corner of the Overview page, click On or Off.
- Confirm your change on the Campaigns page. Campaigns you turn off show up as Inactive. Those you've restarted show up as Submitted.
Copy a campaign
Note: These steps explain how to create a new opportunity from an existing campaign. The new opportunity must still go through an approval process in order to become a campaign.
- Log in to the applicable account.
- Click the Campaigns tab.
- Search for and select the campaign you want to copy in the Campaign List area.
- On the Overview page, click Copy Campaign.
- In the Copy Campaign box that opens, you have two options:
- To copy a campaign and use with the current client, provide a new campaign name, then click Create Copy. If the copy is successful, a confirmation box appears.
- To copy a campaign and use it with a new client, provide a new campaign name, click New Client, go to Search for an existing client and select a new client, then click Create Copy. If the copy is successful, a confirmation box appears.
- To copy a campaign and use with the current client, provide a new campaign name, then click Create Copy. If the copy is successful, a confirmation box appears.
- In the confirmation box that appears, click View Opportunity to see the new opportunity. You'll land on its Overview page, where you can review settings and submit it for approval.
Campaign links
Note: You might not have all of these campaign link options. Options vary by partner and the features activated for a campaign.
Snippets in the Campaign Links module can be emailed to advertisers for a variety of reasons, including previewing their ad on a live webpage.
To find the Campaign Links module, open a campaign and go to its Overview page. The Campaign Links module is in the center of the page.
Call Tracking Test URL
Note: End-users cannot test the replacement of call tracking numbers on their proxy or landing page without the CTN test URL.
The Call Tracking Test URL provides a dynamically generated URL that contains the tracking parameters needed to test phone number replacement on proxy websites and landing pages.
To use a call tracking test URL, copy the URL from the Campaign Links module, paste it into a browser, then verify that the phone numbers that appear on the site match the call tracking number(s) associated with the campaign.
It's best practice to paste the URL into a private or incognito browser to prevent caching, which can keep the call tracking numbers from replacing the phone numbers on the site.
Live Ad View
The Live Ad View link provides access to a sample ad on a live website. The live website always delivers one of the campaign's ads. There is no reliable way to show an advertiser a live ad without the link. Email the complete link to the advertiser with instructions about how to paste it in a browser.
Performance Report
The Performance Report link provides advertiser access to a campaign's performance without having to open a special account. An advertiser can view real-time statistics about impressions, clicks, city and site placement, a daily summary, and other things. Email the complete link to the advertiser with instructions about how to paste it in a browser.
Preview All Ads
The Preview All Ads link provides access to samples of all of a campaign's ads. The preview ads are interactive, linking to the locations specified during their creation. Email the complete link to the advertiser with instructions about how to paste it in a browser.
Retargeting Pixel
The Retargeting Pixel snippet serves two purposes:
- It enables the Sales Solution to retarget users who visit a webpage tagged with the snippet, then leave to browse the web.
- It enables the Sales Solution to detect how many users see an advertiser's ad then perform a keyword search for the advertiser's business.
To use the "pixel," an advertiser must add the retargeting snippet to affected webpages on the applicable website.
You have two placement options:
- Place it in the site footer to ensure that the snippet is on all pages.
- Place it on individual pages if you want more retargeting specificity.
The snippet does not affect the performance of the webpage.
Search Retargeting URL
The Search Retargeting URL enables a user to associate their iPromote campaign with a search engine search campaign (think AdWords). Associating the two campaigns enables iPromote to retarget users who have clicked the search link and it supports Display Driven Search (DDS).
In order for this link to work, a user must manually add the search retargeting URL to the applicable field in their search engine configuration tool. For example, in AdWords you might go to Settings > Campaign URL options > Tracking template > Edit and paste in the applicable search retargeting URL.
Contact Support
Individual campaign and opportunity pages include a Support button. It is located in the lower-right corner of the page. Use it to send a communication directly to iPromote Support without leaving the page.
Contact us menu options:
- General request: Request that does not match one of the other available menu options.
- Activate social channel: Use this option to update the Facebook page and social allocation associated with a campaign.
