Note: Client accounts can be created for each potential advertiser a reseller contacts. They must be created before starting an opportunity.
Creating an opportunity is the first step toward winning a sale and kicking off a campaign. There are a couple of ways to start an opportunity in the Sales Solution. Regardless of where you start, a client record must first exist.
You have these options:
- Go to an existing client, then create a new opportunity.
- Create a new client, then create a new opportunity.
The path you follow depends on your preference or the worklfow selected by your company.
Find an advertiser
When you start an opportunity, the look-up tool automatically collects online information that is used to create a client account and campaign.
- On the 1 – Business Details step, your client's publicly available data is used to pre-populate the client's business details. Edit any incorrect fields or fill them in as needed. If the incorrect business was returned, then click Clear the Business before starting a new search.
- If the organization is found, double-check the pre-filled information and edit as needed. Include as many links as possible.
- Proceed to the next step–selecting an objective.
Choose an objective
Note: The objectives discussed here are defaults. It is possible that your objectives vary or your objectives are associated with different channels.
Every digital ad campaign should have a clear objective. When you select an objective, the rest of your campaign building experience is tailored to that objective.
To select an objective
- On the 1 – Business Details step, select an objective. Options under Campaign Objective determine the ad channels on which your campaign will deliver.
- On the Edit ads step, select channels and make customizations to ads as you build your media kit. Make sure that viewers who click ads go 1) to the right landing page and 2) to a well-designed, content-rich page.
Default objectives
The following table lists and describes default objectives.
| Objective | Description |
|---|---|
| Creative Only |
Used to generate digital ad creative for the web and mobile channels. This objective does not include targeting and budgeting options. After a Creative Only campaign is approved, an ad tag becomes available on the campaign's Overview page under the Copy Ad Tag button. The ad tag is to be used in Google Ad Manager (GAM) on Owned and Operated sites only. For more information, see Using the Creative Only objective. |
Display |
Includes web, mobile, video, and native channels. Results in a multifaceted ad campaign serving to dominant display ad channels. |
OmniChannel |
Includes web, mobile, search, social, native, and video channels. Results in a multifaceted ad campaign serving to all dominant digital ad channels. |
| Omni with Yelp | Includes web, mobile, video, and native channels as well as Yelp access. Yelp ads are automatically created based on data we pull from the advertiser’s Yelp account. Yelp ads serve both as a sponsored result and on competitor pages. Results in a multifaceted ad campaign that serves on common ad channels. |
Search |
Includes search channel. Results in a campaign made up of only search ads. |
Social |
Includes social channel. Results in a campaign made up of only social ads. |
Video |
The video objective provides an ad building experience focused on gaining attention through videos. For example, create a video that showcases a business or a recent event. Unlike static images, video is dynamic and therefore highly engaging. It enables an advertiser to tell a multifaceted story quickly. The video goal includes audio, which further enhances the ad viewing experience. Keep in mind that audio might be turned off by the viewer; design your video so that it does not depend on audio. |
| Yelp Only | Yelp ads are automatically created based on data we pull from the advertiser’s Yelp account. Yelp ads serve both as a sponsored result and on competitor pages. |
Using the Creative Only objective
Note: The following information only applies to partners that have opted into and activated the Creative Only objective.
iPromote offers a campaign objective that enables the user to generate web and mobile creatives using our technology, but without the targeting and budgeting that are usually part of an iPromote campaign. These creatives work for all iPromote web and mobile styles, and all of their corresponding ad formats.
This objective is for partners who meet the following criteria:
- They are an O&O partner.
- They use Google Ad Manager (GAM) as their ad server.
Pricing and billing must be arranged with iPromote when Creative Only is being configured for use, but typically there is a platform fee as well as a CPM charge.
To use the Creative Only objective
- Choose Creative Only on the 1. Business Details step of campaign creation.
- Build your ads using our tools on the 2. Creative step.
- Launch your campaign. If your ads pass an audit by iPromote staff, your campaign goes live and an ad tag appears on your campaign's Overview page under the Copy Ad Tag button.
- In the Ad Creatives module, click Copy Ad Tag.
- Paste the ad tag into the applicable field in GAM. In GAM, we require you to use the creative type Third party. See the following image for an example of the GAM fields to fill out:
